PHOTOVERSE KEYNOTE SPEAKER

DANIELLA ZALCMAN

Letting the Story Lead the Way

From documenting the evolution of anti-gay laws in Uganda, to spending a decade interviewing the survivors of North America’s genocidal boarding schools for Indigenous youth, to capturing the journey of a Syrian family fleeing civil war, photojournalist and community organizer Daniella Zalcman consistently seeks to emphasize the central role of community engagement and participation in her process.

Join Daniella as she discusses her long-term documentary projects, the construction of her visual approach, and how the history of each story guides her aesthetic choices. During this keynote, Daniella leads participants through her conceptualization, development, and lessons learned along the way.
