In this enriching seminar, Mikael Owunna, Nigerian-American multimedia artist, filmmaker, engineer, and President of Pittsburgh’s Public Art and Civic Design Commission, guides attendees through his unique artistic practice which transcends the traditional boundaries of photography through his integration of African cosmologies, multimedia elements and engineering techniques. Audience members will learn how Mikael manipulates lights and shadows to elevate subjects and invoke a sense of universal connection, and will leave well-equipped with insights on blending technology with tradition, how to push the boundaries of photography and multimedia art, and learn new ways to create works which are both visually engaging as well as uniquely meaningful.
